PORT OF SPAIN - Off-spinner Sajid Khan produced another impressive spell to help Pakistan bowl out West Indies for 344 in the first innings on the second day of the second Test at Queen’s Park Oval on Monday, despite a determined half-century from home captain Roston Chase.
Resuming the day at 239-5, West Indies added 105 valuable runs before being dismissed in 105.4 overs, with Chase leading the resistance through a composed innings of 70 from 126 deliveries, decorated with 11 boundaries. Pakistan eventually broke the overnight partnership in the morning session when left-arm spinner Ali Usman removed Justin Greaves, who top-scored with a well-crafted 73 off 150 balls, including nine fours. The dismissal ended a crucial 96-run sixth-wicket stand that had steadied the West Indies innings.

Chase continued to frustrate the visitors, combining with veteran pacer Kemar Roach in a useful 35-run partnership before Ubaid Shah produced a superb delivery to clean-bowl the West Indies skipper shortly after he guided his side beyond the 300-run mark. Roach contributed 19 before Sajid Khan struck twice in quick succession, removing both the experienced fast bowler and Shamar Joseph to leave the hosts reeling at 326-9. However, Pakistan were made to wait for the final wicket as Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican added 18 valuable runs for the last wicket. Sajid wrapped up the innings by dismissing Seales for eight, finishing with outstanding figures of 4 for 85 in 32.4 overs. Ali Usman, Mohammad Ali and Ubaid Shah provided excellent support, claiming two wickets apiece. Pakistan’s disciplined bowling effort prevented the West Indies from posting an even bigger total after the hosts appeared well placed following their strong overnight recovery. However, the challenging surface and a first-innings score of 344 still present a significant test for Pakistan’s batting line-up as the visitors look to respond strongly in their first innings.
