ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Kuwait in diverse fields.
He expressed these views while talking to the Foreign Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who called on him in Islamabad. Welcoming the visiting dignitary, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.

He said Pakistan and Kuwait enjoy longstanding fraternal relations founded on shared values and mutual trust. Discussing the regional situation, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s complete solidarity with the leadership and people of Kuwait and strongly condemned the attacks on Kuwait and other brotherly Gulf countries during the ongoing conflict.
He said Pakistan is playing its role as an honest and sincere mediator and facilitator in regional peace efforts and thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for supporting these efforts.

Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated the Kuwaiti government for hosting the Pakistani community and acknowledged its valuable contribution to Kuwait’s socio-economic development.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Kuwaiti leadership to the Prime Minister and reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation.
He also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to advance dialogue and diplomacy for resolving the current regional crisis and thanked the leadership and people of Pakistan for their solidarity and steadfast support for Kuwait.

The two sides agreed to maintain close consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest and exchange high-level delegations in the near future.
The PM also reiterated his invitation to the Crown Prince of Kuwait to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at a mutually convenient time.
Also, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Ishaq Dar on Wednesday welcomed Kuwait’s recent ratification of the Pakistan–Kuwait Defence Cooperation Agreement, signed in June 2023 and noted that the Agreement marks an important milestone in bilateral defence relations that will further strengthen institutional linkages between the Armed Forces of the two countries while enhancing defence cooperation.

The deputy prime minister and foreign minister received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during his official visit to Pakistan, a DPM’s Office news release said.
During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers reaffirmed the strong and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Kuwait, rooted in shared history, common values, and mutual respect. They reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and discussed ways to further expand and deepen cooperation, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, energy, information technology, agriculture, and economic cooperation.

The DPM/FM underscored the importance of sustained high-level exchanges in further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries.
The two foreign ministers agreed to establish Joint Working Groups in key areas of bilateral cooperation, including energy, trade and investment, agriculture and food security, information technology, education, and health. They further agreed to meet periodically to review the progress of these Working Groups, ensure effective follow-up on their work, and provide guidance for the timely implementation aimed at advancing bilateral cooperation.
They also exchanged views on recent regional and international developments and reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination and cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations.
Foreign Minister Al-Sabah reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors and appreciated the valuable contributions of the Pakistani community to Kuwait’s continued development and prosperity.
The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and concluded with both sides expressing satisfaction at the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the Pakistan–Kuwait partnership across areas of mutual interest.
Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, accompanied by Nassar Abdul Rahman J. Al-Mutairi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Pakistan, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and steps to further strengthen bilateral cooperation were discussed, said an ISPR press release.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support, its constructive contribution toward regional peace and stability and the deep-rooted fraternal ties shared between the two nations.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Kuwait, emphasising that both countries share a common vision for regional peace and prosperity.
