ISLAMABAD - Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar on Tuesday.

He was briefed on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management measures and operational preparedness of formations deployed in the province.

The COAS & CDF commended the high morale, readiness and professionalism of officers and troops, acknowledging their steadfast commitment to safeguarding the country and its people, says a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

He directed formations to remain vigilant and uphold the highest standards of operational preparedness. He emphasised that the Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain resolute in their determination to defeat terrorism and ensure lasting peace and stability across the country. He also laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying rich tribute to those who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland and in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed that their supreme sacrifices would never be forgotten. Upon arrival, the COAS & CDF was received by Commander Peshawar Corps.

Meanwhile, Mr Nicolas Roche, Secretary General for Defence and National Security (SGDSN) of France accompanied by Mr. Jean-Noël Poirier, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi.

During the meeting matters of mutual interest, including regional security, bilateral cooperation in defence and security domains were discussed. The COAS & CDF reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening of bilateral ties and further enhancing defence and security cooperation.

Mr. Nicolas Roche acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote regional peace, stability and reciprocated France’s interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
