LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced central contracts for Under-19 cricketers for the first time, marking a significant step towards strengthening the country’s junior cricket pathway and rewarding promising young talent. The decision was announced after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met members of the Pakistan U19 squad at the PCB headquarters in Lahore on Monday, following their impressive tour of England.Pakistan’s young cricketers secured a 3-1 victory in the four-match one-day series in England, prompting the PCB to recognise their performances and provide greater support as they progress towards senior-level cricket.

During the meeting, Naqvi interacted with the players and praised their efforts, urging them to maintain their focus, work ethic and commitment to development.Pakistan U19 head coach Shahid Anwar welcomed the introduction of the contracts, saying recognition for strong performances would boost the confidence of young players and motivate them to raise their standards.

Captain Farhan Yousuf also highlighted the impact of the development camps held in Multan over the past two years. He said the camps had contributed positively to the team’s progress and described the first-ever U19 central contracts as a major source of encouragement for the players.

The young cricketers also welcomed the initiative. Aliyan Salman said the contracts would strengthen the players’ confidence and allow them to concentrate more closely on their cricket, while Jahangir Bilal noted that the financial support could help young players contribute towards their families. Rizwanullah also expressed gratitude to the PCB leadership, describing the rewards and contracts as a significant source of motivation.
