ISLAMABAD - The federal government is set to launch an immediate nationwide crackdown on undocumented Afghans and has directed to arrest any Afghan national found in Pakistan without a valid visa. From July 10, 2026, any Afghan national found in Pakistan without a valid visa will be arrested on the spot, a directive issued by the Ministry of Interior here Sunday. Official source told The Nation that during the review meeting on the illegal foreigners’ repatriation plan (IFRP) held earlier this month under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Ministry of Interior & Narcotics Control, has directed all Provincial Governments, Special Area Governments and the ICT Administration were directed to expedite the repatriation/deportation of Afghan nationals, including visa overstay cases, and to ensure strict implementation of the Illegal Foreigners’ Repatriation Plan (IFRP). According the source, the Ministry of Interior & Narcotics Control has issued strict directives for the nationwide crackdown on undocumented Afghan nationals. In a letter dated June 28, 2026, addressed to all Chief Secretaries and the Chief Commissioner ICT, the Ministry announced that from July 10, 2026, any Afghan national found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa will be arrested immediately. It was further directed that, with effect from 10th July, 2026, any Afghan national found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa shall be arrested immediately, the letter said. The provincial Chief Secretaries and Chief Commissioner ICT have been asked to issue necessary directives to all Deputy Commissioners, District Administrations, Police and other concerned law enforcement agencies to ensure uniform and effective implementation of these directions. The order, issued under the Illegal Foreigners’ Repatriation Plan (IFRP), also mandates daily reporting on arrests and deportations, with compliance sought on a top priority basis from provincial governments, district administrations, and law enforcement agencies. “A daily report, indicating the number of Afghan nationals found without valid visas, the action taken against them, and their present status, may kindly be furnished to this Ministry on a daily basis, commencing 11th July, 2026,” the letter said.
